Monday, March 29th 2010

Reminder: Thursday April 1 is the last day of the first 9 weeks. All missing work must be completed and turned in by that date.

Civics: We are going to first start by labeling the sections on this illustration:
We will have a quiz on this Tuesday.

We are then going to take Notes on PowerPoint 17: The Constitution. The last slide of this presentation has the assignment of finding out what the 7 articles of the Constitution establish. This PowerPoint (18) reviews what each article establishes.

This is so students can understand why the Constitution is important.
Students will also have time to make-up and missing work.

US History: Students are going to start by having time to study Goal 5 Vocabulary. We are then going to take Goal 5 Quiz. This is going to be a "mock" quiz, students are going to think it is real, but then as a class, we are going to go over it together and students can take it home and study the questions. Tomorrow, Tuesday March 30Th, we will have the actual quiz.

When complete, because many students are missing many assignments, students are going to have time to make up work.

Today is a half-day for students. Today only 1st and 2nd period will be meeting.

Civics: Only period 1, will be meeting today. We will be working on make-up work to improve our grades.

Civics: Students will recieve Progress Reports today. Students will have to time to make up missing assignments. Students will also have one hour in the computer lab to finish their webquests.

US History: Students will work on a Goal 5 Vocabulary Crossword Puzzle.
We will have a quiz on Goal 5 Vocabulary on Monday March, 29th.
Students will also have one more class period to finish any missing work.
As mentioned before, we will have a binder check today.
Students will also get a copy of their Progress Report to take home and get signed.

Civics: Today, students will be working on a webquest on the Supreme Court. Link Here. Students are expected to have this complete by the end of the class. We will be going to the computer lab to complete it.

US History: Students will recieve Progress Reports today to see how they are doing in the class and ahve the opportunity to complete missing assignments.

US History: Students are going to have a chance to complete their graphic organizer from yesterday. When complete, students are going to create their own graphic organizer for Chapter 15 section 2. The middle should be "Roosevelt and Taft" the two major concepts off the middle will be Roosevelt and Taft. Off that, students should find 6 concepts for Roosevelt and 4 concepts for Taft. Make sure to use important facts. Make it look good.

Civics: Due to poor attendence yester, students are going to be given another day to finish there American Revolutionary War Timeline.

Civics: Students are going to take notes on the Revolutionary War. Students will take notes from this presentation.

When complete, students are going to Create a Timeline of the Revolution:
•Highlight major battles and important events:
–From 1775 to the Treaty of Paris
–For major battles
–Where was it fought?
–Who won?
–Who was the major leader on each side?
–For major events
– Where did it occur?
– Why is it important?
Students need to have at least 12 events and battles.
Students are to use the American Visions pages 81 and 83.
Make it look good! Make sure to have every major event and battle.

Students will also be recieveing their Quiz from yesterday graded.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
US History: We are first going to have time to study and then students are going to take there Quiz on Vocabulary from Goal 4. When complete, students are going to take notes on Goal 5 Vocabulary. (Note, this PowerPoint will change and include images.)

Civics: This will be the last day for students to finish their Colonial Life Brochure.

Students are going to work on there: Goal 4 Vocab Crossword and Word search . Students are also going to have time to complete any Guided Readings they may not have complete. Guided Reading 12 is a grade, but Guided Reading 13 is going to be extra credit.

US History: We are going to further analyze the effects of Custer's Last Stand on Native American and American perceptions by watching a BBC documentary: The Wild West, Custer's Last Stand. This documentary shows the history of the battle and its after effects. While watching the video we are going to answer these questions on the video.

US History: Students are going to continue to work on the same assignment as yesterday as we did not have enough time for everyone to complete the notes and Guided Reading.

Student will be first be receiving back there graded goal 3 quiz. Students are then going to start taking notes on Goal 4 Vocabulary via this PowerPoint presentation.Students will also be completing Guided Reading 11, sections 1+2.
